Lara Cobden

Lara Cobden is an artist who recently relocated to Norfolk from Valentia Island, a small remote island off the coast of Kerry, Ireland. Based on a general theme of recollection and a sense of place, the origin of her work stems from a fascination and curiosity about the relationship between recollection, painting and photography.  

In her paintings she tries to combine these elements in a way which embraces both abstraction & figuration. These works are visual diaries informed by observation, memory & meditation. Recognisable but not specifically representational, the paintings pull between the chimerical & the familiar.
