I am a Polymer Clay artist, living and working here in Dereham. Norfolk. I have worked with polymer clay for a long time now, and still enjoy finding new ways of working with this wonderfully versatile medium.
Polymer clay is amazing, its appearance changes depending on the technique used whilst working with it, making it possible to achieve the most amazing effects. Some of my work employs the traditional 'cane work' usually associated with polymer clay, but other pieces explore more unusual techniques using metallics, foils and inks.
All my pieces are individual, each component being hand formed and hand polished. I use cotton cord and leather for stringing jewellery, and all findings are sterling silver. Inspiration for my work is varied, I draw on the beauty of the art and textiles I was surrounded with whilst living in Malaysia, as well as being fascinated by the art of ceramics, the vibrancy of glass work and the beautiful designs of antique and rare beads.
As well as working on my collection, I also work on commissioned pieces, and run a variety of workshops, to share this wonderful craft with others. |
